McCulloch Could Be Out For Season

10 February 2011 13:07
Only the skill of Lee McCulloch's surgeon can determine if he will be back before season 2011-12 Lee McCulloch will find out next week if he will have to sit out the rest of the season, with the midfielder due to undergo knee surgery after playing through the pain barrier with a cyst in his knee since pre-season. However, he was forced off during last Wednesday's game against Hearts and missed the Scottish Cup 2-2 draw with Celtic last Sunday. McCulloch has been a near ever-present for Rangers this season, but was due to miss the next three SPL games through suspension after going through the disciplinary points threshold. Rangers are looking to stay in the hunt  for honours on four fronts and the midfielder's loss could be keenly felt. A statement from Rangers said:  "McCulloch visited a specialist yesterday (on Tuesday) when it was confirmed that he would require an operation to clear up the cartilage problem. It is planned that this will take place next week and it will be when the procedure is under way that the surgeon will know the full extent of it. Rangers are bracing themselves for Lee missing the rest of the campaign but there is some hope that this might not be the case."
