Matrtin Praises Rather Than Buries Rovers
Outrageous fortune denied Albion Rovers making best use of their game in hand. However, still lots to be encouraged about. Albion Rovers just failed to overtake Queen’s Park in the race for the play-offs when they went down 2-0 to Livingston as they used up their final game in hand on Tuesday. However, manager Paul Martin thinks his players deserve a bit of praise rather than him criticising them. Rovers now sit one point behind the Spiders and Martin thinks his men deserve a bit of praise not criticism. Martin said: “The Livingston game was our seventh game in seventeen days and we went into it with a few injuries. We started off by pinning Livingston back, however we then lost two strange goals with one scored via a deflection and the other a miss-hit own goal. With 18 minutes gone and two goals down we could have folded but the lads stuck with it and had the better chances for the rest of the game.” Rovers welcome Stranraer on Saturday and a win or a draw will see them progress as the expense of the Spiders if they fail to beat Forfar. Martin is hopeful that a similar performance as Tuesday night will pay dividends.
