With Morton taking full points on Tuesday night and Dundee favourites to win on Saturday it is looking increasingly likely that Cowdenbeath's impending play-off to sustain Div 1 status will have a local feel about it. Sure, there is still some way to go in the season and it's not over until the Stock Car crosses the finish line but the talk of the town in Cowdenbeath is of another end of season play-off encounter, this time to preserve First Division status. It would be three seasons running for Cowden in the play-offs if that was the case. Morton's 0-2 win at Central Park on Tuesday stopped the recent 'beath revival before it really got started. A plucky 2-1 defeat at league leaders Raith was followed by a 1-0 win at Partick Thistle but just as Blue Brazilians thought the corner had been turned Morton won in Fife without too much trouble and it is unlikely Cowden will take full points at Dens on Saturday on current form. So, it looks increasingly likely that Cowden will have to see a play-off as a best case scenario come the end of April. There is a real chance that the Fifers could go back to Brechin for a semi-final showdown against the team they pipped for promotion last term. Forfar (managed by Cowdenbeath natives and former players, twins Ian and Dick Campbell) could also challenge Cowden for their First Division status and ofcourse East Fife and a derby to look forward to could be one of two ties in a 'Beath play-off scenario. Hopes were high locally that Cowdenbeath would take full points against Greenock's finest on Tuesday but in front of a poor crowd of 359 The Blue Brazil conspired to shoot themselves in the foot within 90 Seconds of the start.   The visitors took an early lead when Carlo Monti stroked home a second-minute penalty following a hand ball from Mark Baxter.  Cowden's Craig Winter headed wide just after and, in the second half, had an effort tipped over by Kevin Cuthbert.  'Ton sealed the win on the hour mark when Allan Jenkins found the bottom corner from 20 yards. Cowdenbeath: Hay, Baxter, Winter, Adamson, Vauls (Crawford 76), Robertson, Ramsay, Makel (Miller 66), Linton, Stewart, Campbell (McKenzie 12) Subs Not Used: Roy, O'Brien Morton: Cuthbert, Evans, Smyth, McCaffrey, Monti, Lyle, Bachirou (Holmes 84), Jenkins, Tidser, Weatherson (Fitzharris 79), Graham (Kean 90)Subs Not Used: Stewart, O'Brien Booked: EvansGoals: Monti 2 pen, Jenkins 60 Att: 359  Ref: Iain BrinesEditor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba net)This is Scottish-Fitba Net
