Loan Deal Could Help McIntosh

Playing from the start is better than waiting to come on as a sub

Leighton McIntosh is hoping that his loan move to Montrose from Dundee as part of the deal that took Martin Boyle to Dens Park will help him develop as a striker quicker than waiting for a chance as a substitute for the Dark Blues. McIntosh's move to Links Park is a temporary transfer, initially to January. He made his debut in the away 2-2 draw with Queen’s Park at Hampden on Saturday after only meeting his new colleagues just before the game. The young striker said: "The deal was only completed late on Friday night and I just met everyone before the game on Saturday. I need a run of games to progress my career and I was unlikely to get that in the SPL due to the competition for places. Being involved in the first team there is great but playing for 15 minutes here and there was not going to develop me as much a splaying 90 minutes every week is. I have been involved in a few Scotland under-19 games and hopefully playing at Montrose and scoring a few goals for them will keep my name out there. I am hoping that this move will allow me to establish myself as a Dundee player when I go back."
