Livingston Saving the Hangover For The Weekend

Being responsible players, Livingston will save any celebrations for winning Division Three till Saturday evening. Livingston players and fans could have been nursing hangovers today after beating Montrose at Almondvale last night if they had not blown the chance to win the Third Division in midweek by losing against Annan at the weekend. The champagne will have to stay on ice until this Saturday at the earliest when they act as hosts to Forfar. However, Jim Hamilton is willing to wait a few more days to enjoy the sweet taste of promotion as the last time he enjoy a similar taste was nearly 12 years ago when he picked up a Scottish Cup winners medal with Hearts in 1998. While the kudos may not be so grand, winning the Third Division is still a moment Hamilton will cherish as it could be the last opportunity he gets to land silverware as a player. He said: "If we can get over the line, this will be my first winner's medal since the '98 cup final. I've got a couple of disappointing runners-up medals so it would be nice to get another winner's medal at this stage of my career. It's been different playing in the Third Division because I've spent the bulk of my career in the SPL and the First Division. It's just been really good to be back playing fairly regularly because I'm not getting any younger."Last night Hamilton insisted that the squad was focussed on staying on the winning trail after suffering a first league defeat since December at the weekend. Before last night's 1-0 win, he said: "It's nice to have a game so soon after losing at Annan. This Montrose game can't come quick enough for us. We hadn't had a defeat for so long that that one hit us really hard. We just want to get it out of our system. It would be nice to win the league on Saturday, but we've got to make sure we give ourselves a chance of doing that by beating Montrose. All our focus is on this game."
