Fans can help their clubs by saving their bottle tops. Much better than sending to Blue Peter! Livingston have secured promotion to Inn-Bru Division One and they are charging up another league as well. They have moved up to third place in the SFL Tops for Youth Teams leaderboard by adding a phenomenal 7,000 bottle tops to those they had already gathered. If they continue in this fashion, they could yet pick up the £10,000 prize for the top SFL club. So far, 85,000 tops have been gathered by SFL clubs throughout the country. With the support of their local community, the Almondvale side have transformed their previous tally of 700 to an impressive 7,729 bottle tops. Livingston’s Head Youth Coach Brian Welsh and young players, Devon Jacobs and Darren Jamieson were out in force to encourage fans to continue their phenomenal efforts and earn the club a bigger share of the £70,000 investment in youth that IRN-BRU have made available.Welsh said: "I think Tops for Youth Teams is a fantastic way for the community to get involved and help support their local SFL team. It’s such a great initiative from IRN-BRU and we couldn’t be more pleased that we’re in the running for the top prize of £10,000 – I’m hoping people keep collecting until 7 May to push us up to the top of the table!"The bottle top collection bins are filling up all  with Dundee appearing as the highest new entry collecting 4,930 tops but Morton are still sitting pretty at the top top spot with 17,268.  However, as Livingston has shown with their astonishing collection this week, the competition is still wide open.Martin Steele, Senior Brand Manager for IRN-BRU,  said: "We are delighted that SFL fans have got behind Tops for Youth Teams, to have collected over 85,000 tops already is an incredible result! Livingston has really stood out with their PHENOMENAL effort collecting bottle tops this week. Tops for Youth Teams have been designed to boost youth football in Scotland, £70,000 is a significant investment for youth investment, and the top cash prizes will make a valuable contribution to any team."Supporters of the 30 SFL teams have until 7th of May to get collecting to support Scottish youth football in their area - and every bottle top counts. Supporters can follow their team’s progress through the Tops for Teams League table which is available online at www.irn-bru.co.uk/tfyt/.  The final league table will be unveiled at the IRN-BRU SFL Phenomenal End of Season Awards due to take place on Thursday 26th May 2011 at the Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow.
