Living Legend

Ross Forbes wants to bring success back to Motherwell for the first time since 1991 Ross Forbes would love to be thought of as being a Motherwell legend by being part of the team that wins the Scottish Cup final. Forbes will be playing in the showpiece for the first time but knows it could be his last chance of being part of such an occasion as Motherwell last reached the final when they won the cup back in 1991. He said: "Winning a cup, with a team like Motherwell, you could be a legend for the rest of your career at that club. Everybody wants to do it for the club and for ourselves and we will see what happens. The senior players have told us to make the most of it because we don't know if we will get there again. Hopefully we do get another shot but we just have to make the most of the chance we've got just now. It would be massive for the club. The last time we won it was 20 years ago and it's not that often a team like Motherwell get to the final. We just need to give it everything we've got and hopefully it's good enough on the day."  Of course, iIt is not a foregone conclusion that Forbes will pick up a winners medal as there is the slight complication of having to beat Celtic at Hampden. The Steelmen have done it before, in February, but Celtic beat Motherwell 4-0 on Sunday in the final SPL game of the season. However, Forbes is confident the game at Parkhead will have no bearing on the final. He said: "We had a few players out at the weekend and it was a totally different game. This is a one-off game, it's a cup final. The season was over for us and our focus was on this cup final so this will be a totally different game in that respect. They can be beaten. They are not a super-power. Anything can happen. We will go in there full of confidence and show belief in ourselves. We just need another performance like the one at Fir Park. If we play to our best, we can win. We will be the underdogs and some people won't expect us to get anything from this game but we have confidence in ourselves. We won't just be going there to make up the numbers."
