You just can't stop some players from playing and Dumbarton are not about to halt Allan McManus' career. Allan McManus has returned to football as a player after agreeing to sign for Second Division Dumbarton. The former Morton assistant manager will now have yet another club strip in his locker. He started his career at Hearts before moving on to Livingston, Alloa, Aidrieonians, Ayr United, Airdrie United, St Johnstone and the Cappielow men. McManus’ time as player and assistant manager to James Grady ended last month when Greenock Chairman Douglas Rae brought in Stirling Albion boss Allan Moore. Dumbarton made another signing yesterday when goalkeeper Stephen Grindlay returned to the club from Second Division rivals Ayr United. He began his career at Celtic and he also spent time at Newcastle United and Grimsby Town before joining the Sons first time round in 2001 for six years. Grindlay moved to Queen of the South, where he was a substitute in their 2008 Scottish Cup final appearance against Rangers, before joining Ayr for two seasons.
