Levein calls up Davidson and Caddis

Scotland manager Craig Levein has called up St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson and Swindon full-back Paul Caddis for Tuesday's friendly against the Faroe Islands.

The pair will make the transition from the Under-21s after Levein was hit by nine withdrawals from his 20-man squad over the weekend.

Levein has now called up eight players not originally included in the squad.

Levein had already left out established players such as Kenny Miller and Allan McGregor, while handing first call-ups to Liverpool teenager Danny Wilson, Dundee United striker David Goodwillie and Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan.

But his plans were thrown into disarray at the weekend with almost half of his squad pulling out of the Pittodrie friendly.

Davidson gets the call after impressing in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League since his move from Livingston last summer. He was regularly called into Billy Stark's under-21 squad but his appearances have been limited by a series of injuries.

The 22-year-old returned from an ankle knock to play 90 minutes for Saints in their 2-0 defeat by Hearts on Saturday.

Caddis was Scotland Under-21 captain during their recent European qualifying campaign, which ended with a play-off defeat by an impressive Iceland side.

The versatile 21-year-old, who can play in midfield or at full-back, made 24 appearances for Celtic before joining Swindon in the summer in a bid for more first-team action.

He played under Levein during a loan spell at Dundee United last year.
