Players are willing to play their part in calming things down in football Old Firm players are happy to work within the six-point plan announced following the football summit convened by the First Minister Alex Salmond. Both clubs signed and issued issued the six-point recommendation - outlining a new "re-enforced code of conduct for players and officials" - following the events during and after their Scottish Cup derby at Parkhead on 2 March. The First Minister  hosted a meeting of police, Government and football officials on Tuesday to tackle problems both on and off the field. Rangers defender Kyle Bartley said: "I think they had a meeting yesterday and whatever the six-point plan is that they thought about, we would be happy to go along with that." As a new boy, Bartley freely admits he is not aware of the full history of the Old Firm games. Responding to a question on whether the situation had been blown out of proportion or if something needed to be done, the youngster said: "Well I think I'm a bit of an outsider coming into it - obviously I've only had two Old Firm games - so I'm not sure what it is all about. But I think it has been blown a little bit out of proportion, hopefully we can get back to the football now." Looking ahead to Rangers' next challenge, their last-16 Europa League first leg tie with PSV Eindhoven on Thursday, Bartley is keen to be involved. He said: "It's been fantastic so far (playing for Rangers) - I'm not sure if I'm playing yet or not but hopefully I will be and hopefully we will get a good result. I know they are a good team - obviously I know they are technically very good and I know they are top of the league so it will be a tough game." The teenager has been playing left side of a three-man defence recently and said he was happy to help the team in whatever position he was picked. he went on: "It's not my natural position but I said when I came here I spoke to the manager and I said I'd be happy to play wherever he wants to play me so as part of a three-man defence, two-man or in a different position that is fine with me." Bartley's parent club Arsenal crashed out of the UEFA Champions League to Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Tuesday and the defender believed the sending-off of Robin van Persie changed the game. He said: "It was a fantastic match and obviously it was hampered a little bit by the sending off to Robin van Persie and I think they were doing very well - at 1-1 everything was to play for."  It was Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba net)This is ScottishFitba Net
