Lessons Over For The Day

Brazil showed why they are considered one of the top sides in the world. Their change of pace and skill with the ball just make them a delight to watch. Scotland failed at the tenth attempt to beat Brazil. The quality, speed, power not only of the players but also a ball under control was a thing of beauty. They always say that all Brazilian players are frustrated forwards which is why they used to have rubbish goalkeepers. Each and every one of the team at the Emirates were both comfortable on the ball but also full of the tricks and flicks that YouTube lap up and add a samba beat to. Both today's goals were scored by the Mohican haired Neymar and Brazil should have had a couple more penalties due to blatant hand-ball incidents that weresomehow missed by Howard Web and his fellow officials. Allan MacGregor made a double save early in the second half just after Neymar had shaved the bar with a shot. The saves kept Scotland at least in the game technically but it was obviously that we were not going to be bothering Julio Cesar anytime soon in the game. I think the only shot on goal from Scotland was a free-kick from Barry Bannan late in the second half. I could be wrong but, while there were flurries of excitement in the Brazil half created by Scotland, there were not just enough consistent pressure to make Mano Menezes lose any sleep about losing his job. Both sets of supporters in the crowd of 53,087 brought a great deal of colour to the occasion and the sun brought out the samba drums and the pipes from north of the border. Brazil supporters have the advantage of looking like they have just stepped of the beach with olive skin glistening. While Scots fans revel in the absurd names on sports gear that they try to carry off with panache. I leave you with two pictures and you have to decide which fan supports which team. I may leave you in suspense for a while before I offer any clues.Fan one:                                      Fan two:  Scotland: McGregor, Hutton, Crainey, Berra, Caldwell, Whittaker, Adam, Brown, Miller, Morrison, McArthurSubs: Gordon, Hanley Commons, Wilson, Snodgrass, Mackail-Smith, Cowie, Maguire, Banan, Bell, Davidson, Wilson Brazil: Cesar, Alves, Lucio, Silva, Leiva, Santos, Elano, Ramiresm Damiao, Jadson, NeymarSubs: Victor, Maicon, Luisao, Luiz, Sandro, Henrique, Elais, Augusto, Lucas, Jonas, Jefferson
