Lennon Says Paisley Park Is Better Than Rugby Park

It is noce to be wanted by a couple of clubs Newly installed as manager of St Mirren, Danny Lennon calmly announced during his interview with the Paisley board that he had been approached by Kilmarnock on his way to their meeting. The former Cowdenbeath boss was on his way to St Mirren Park when their SPL rivals got in touch offering him the chance to discuss the possibility of making him Jimmy Calderwood's replacement. However, Lennon followed his instincts and signed for St Mirren - a deal sealed over the weekend. Lennon said: "I was on holiday in Turkey and found out on Tuesday/Wednesday when Cowdenbeath called to tell me about St Mirren's interest.  I spoke with the club on Thursday and flew back on Friday. St Mirren said they wouldn't take it to the first stage if there was going to be compensation. Eventually we got there and I was given permission to speak with them on Thursday. Kilmarnock got in touch on my way to Paisley. That was a surprise but with the facilities at St Mirren Park and our training facility this was my choice. The biggest thing was I was their No 1 target. I had a feeling about St Mirren right away and I'm just glad the weekend is over and everything was sorted. After they offered me the job I was up front and told the board I was supposed to be going to Rugby Park after our meeting. They thanked me for my honesty and said they didn't want me to go."
