Lennon After Rangers Again

St Mirren should have no fear of Rangers says Danny Lennon Danny Lennon wants his players to get in about Rangers when the sides meet tomorrow. Saints have gradually improved under Lennon against the Old Firm this season, following a 4-0 defeat against Celtic with a 3-1 loss to Rangers and then holding out for 90 minutes against Neil Lennon's men before Gary Hooper scored an injury-time winner. The manager wants St Mirren to take the game to the Ibrox side as he does not see any benefit in sitting back against Rangers and wants his players to go for goals. Lennon said: "I certainly know that you've got to respect every opposition but what you can't do is give them too much respect. We know we've got to get in about them. I was asked the question 'will you go and park the bus?'. You defend when you've got to defend but we are certainly not a team that goes out to line up in defence. I feel that any time we try to hold on to something that we are at our most vulnerable. We have got to make sure we keep to our strengths." Lennon is likely to stick to the 3-5-2 formation that delivered a 1-0 win over Motherwell. The Saints manager kept the same line-up in the 2-0 defeat at Kilmarnock, even after going two goals down at half-time. He said: "I was delighted in the second half against Kilmarnock, I was delighted for the full 90 minutes against Motherwell and the manner we went about our business, not just in possession of the ball but off the ball. You set up a formation and that is only really to give the boys a starting point and taking into consideration the opposition's strengths and weakness. But what we have to make sure we do is concentrate on our strengths. We'll have a game plan, I have to make sure my boys are committed to that game plan and we have players at this football club who are desperate to win against the Old Firm." Meanwhile, Lennon admitted he could empathise with his namesake and Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist who temporarily lost their cool during Wednesday's Old Firm derby at Parkhead. He said: "I can't live the passion because I have never been involved in one directly. But I can understand what coaches and managers go through when you're trying to get those three points or get into the next round of the cup. I was at the game myself, the atmosphere was electric, you can get wrapped up in things. My point of view is that we have also got to remember who we are and what we represent. If you look at the coolest man in the technical area the other night it was Walter Smith, I thought he handled the whole thing terrifically."
