Just One Small Step Away Form The Main Squad
A sideways move can sometimes be the best decision anybody makes
Rabiu Ibrahim showed a refreshing attitude when he did not make the final Nigerian squad for the African Nations Cup. He wants to work hard and make a fresh start with Kilmarnock which, he hopes, will help him take the next step in his international career. The attacking midfielder moved to Rugby Park earlier in the month after failing to make the breakthrough at Celtic and was named in the initial 31-man Nigerian squad for the African Nations Cup. However, there is always some players disappointed and Ibrahim did not make the final cut. He has a set of caps at under-17, under-20 and under-23 level, and is keen to pick up a full cap as a Killie player, after signing a two-year deal early this month. He said: "I am not disappointed at being left out. It was my first squad, I went there and did very well and they are happy with me. They said that I should go back and work hard to be playing week in and week out and I will be called up for the World Cup qualifiers. So my international career depends on Kilmarnock. If I do very well and consistently, they will be watching and I will definitely get my chance in the national team."
