Invaluable Lesson

Sometimes you have to learn the hard way in a game. Head coach Gardner Speirs may have watched his Queen’s Park side be comprehensively beaten 6-0 to Scottish Cup winners Dundee United on Wednesday evening but he was upbeat at the opportunity given to his players to be taught a lesson on how to play the game. A Tannadice side, including former Spider Barry Douglas, were four up at Hampden midway through the first half and Speirs reckons that period will have taught the amateurs more than they would have learned at a training evening.Speirs said: “We did contribute a bit to our own downfall with some poor mistakes but the boys got shown that good sides will punish you if they get the chance. The movement of the Dundee United players was fantastic as was their pace and strength. We could over analyse where we went wrong but I think it is better to look at what Dundee United did well and learn from that.” Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba net)This is Scottish-Fitba Net
