Hughes Interested In Aberdeen Job

Every out of work manager wants to get back into football and John Hughes is no different John Hughes has admitted he would be interested in the vacant manager's job at Aberdeen. The Pittodrie club are looking for someone to fill the gap in the dug out created when  Mark McGhee's was sacked on Wednesday. Neil Cooper and Neil Simpson have been given interim control of team matters and the club insist they will not rush into naming a new manager. As usual a number of candidates have been linked with the vacant post, including Gordon Strachan, Billy Stark and Gus MacPherson. Hughes, who has been out of work since being sacked by Hibs in October, has invited Aberdeen to approach him about replacing McGhee. Hughes said: "From day one after leaving Hibs, I have wanted to get back in football. If you look at my CV I've had success at both clubs I managed. I took Hibs into fourth place in the SPL and into Europe. I would be delighted to speak to Aberdeen, it's a great club with a great history. It's something I'd be interested in." Scotland Under 21 boss and former Aberdeen star Stark is keeping his own counsel on the prospects of taking over at Pittodrie, claiming he had not been approached by the club. Stark said: "It's nice to be appreciated but I don't want to comment on whether I will be going back to Aberdeen.  Aberdeen have made no contact and I'd rather say nothing else."
