Chris Hogg thought he stood a chance of getting a club down south but it was not to be Former Hibs captain Chris Hogg has returned to the Highland capital and signed a one-year deal with Caley Thistle. The centre-back left Inverness at the end of the season to pursue a career south of the border. However, Hogg, who initially joined Inverness in January, has returned to the Highlands after failing to win a deal with Crewe after a trial game this week. He had previously been training at hometown club Middlesbrough and goes straight into the squad to face Hibs in the SPL tomorrow. Manager Terry Butcher said: "I'm delighted that Chris has signed a one year deal as we needed another centre-half and his vast experience will help our younger players. I've kept track of him during the summer but his call to say he wanted to return came right out of the blue - but it was a superb surprise. I'd been signing younger players but this week's arrivals are mature, physical players with good experience"  Hogg is the third signing of the week for Butcher following the arrival of Wales international Owain Tudur Jones from Norwich and Austrian left-back Thomas Piermayr.
