Hibs Waiting To Get The Right Players

Just when is the right time to get decent players if not in the transfer window?

Pat Fenlon will not be pursuing his interest in the two players he had at Easter Road the club on trial last week. There is still some mystery about the 'keeper Fenlon was watching but he and former Sligo Rovers left-back Iarfhlaith Davoren will not be returning despite playing in a training-ground friendly against Celtic.

Fenlon said: "We won't be doing anything presently on either of them. We are looking around and I feel there are one or two positions that need strengthening. We are actively looking around to see what we can do. But January is a difficult time to bring in decent players. We don't want to bring in players just for the sake of bringing in players. If they come in then they have to be an improvement on what we have."

Fenlon has been pleased with the reaction of his players since arriving from Bohemians and sparked an improved work-rate and organisation in an abandoned match at Motherwell before a tight 2-0 defeat by Rangers. Fenlon, whose team face Aberdeen in a six-pointer at Pittodrie on Saturday lunchtime, said: "I think we can get more out of the players. We think we probably got more out of them from the past game-and-a-half. I think it is inevitable that there will be people that go and hopefully we can bring in a few. But I firmly believe we can get more out of the players. It is time to try and kick on from now."

Aberdeen managed to get their fourth win of the league programme on Tuesday night in a wet and windy Perth with a 2-1 away win over St Johnstone. They will be hoping to build on the three points and widen the gap on their visitors.
