Hibs Still Doing Deals

Pat Fenlon is still shaping his side to cope with the rest of the season.

Hibs manager Pat Fenlon spent his Thursday finalising paperwork on a two-year deal to bring Tom Taiwo to Easter Road. It is hoped that Taiwo, who left Carlisle at the end of last season, will add quality and energy to Hibs' midfield.  Fenlon said: "We felt we were a little bit light in midfield. When Lewis (Stevenson) got injured we went into games with (Gary) Deegan and Jorge (Claros) and nobody on the bench that could play in a central midfield position. We wanted to bring in someone in that position, but we also wanted to bring in someone that can improve us. We also want competition within the club. We've brought him in to go and play. He's a good player. He's good on the ball. He gets it and he moves things quickly and keeps it simple. He has a fantastic attitude and we're delighted to get him in. He hasn't done loads of training. It will probably be a week, 10 days before we consider him to be fit enough to get involved." It is early days in the season but Hibs are looking upwards after only just avoiding relegation last season and go into Saturday's game with Kilmarnock on the back of a four-game unbeaten SPL run which has taken them to third. Striker Leigh Griffiths has played his part and wasnamed the Clydesdale Bank Premier League player of the month for August today. Griffiths will be fit for the Killie game despite pulling out of Scotland Under-21 duty through illness earlier this week. Felnon said: "Since I've been here Leigh's performances have been very, very good. He's worked very hard pre-season. I don't think his work-rate is ever in question. We're trying to get his head down a little bit more and concentrating on his football. Last week was a big plus for him, because he got called back into the under-21 squad and he got the player of the month." Meanwhile, winger Danny Galbraith's future could become clearer in the next week after a series of setbacks due to a groin injury saw him given a break from the club's training ground. Fenlon said: "Danny hasn't been in training. We need to get him right both mentally and physically and see where he is. He's had a lot of knock-backs. Hopefully over the next week we should be able to resolve that situation. It's important we look after him and when he does get back into playing that he's physically able to do that and mentally as well. It's a case of wait and see and see what progress brings."
