Hibs Can Wait

No rush for Zemmama's return to action says Hughes. Merouane Zemmama is making good progress with his recovery from surgery on a cruciate ligament tear back in April. However, manager John Hughes is not about to pressurise the Moroccan into rushing back to action. Zemmama reported back for pre-season training with the rest of the squad last week but has yet to kick a ball. He is spending his time with the club physio working on his fitness rather than working with his team-mates.Zemmama's injury meant that he missed Hibs' final eight games of the season as he went under the knife in April. He is unlikley to be fit for action for the opening Europa League qualifying game on 29 July. However, Hughes is just glad to have Zemmama back available for training and the manager paid tribute to the Hibs staff for the relatively small number of injury problems that they have ahead of the new campaign with Steven Thicot – who is suffering with a painful toe problem – the only other real concern.Hughes said: "We've been really fortunate with injuries. The work that we have been doing has been real quality and there has been plenty of rest too. We've been keeping a close eye on everyone. The credit for that should all go to my staff, they've all been working extremely hard to make sure that the boys are being well looked after. Zouma is back in with us and working very hard. He's been doing a lot of fitness work, along with Steven. We are not going to put a timescale on Zouma, he is working hard and we will just let him get there as we go along."
