Hearts Will Finish Third

Peter Houston has a lot of time for the work done by Jim Jefferies and Billy Brown. Dundee United will not overtake Hearts and finish in third place says their manager Peter Houston. They may have closed the gap to 12 points after last night's 2-0 win at Tannadice and still have a game in hand over their Edinburgh rivals but Houston does not think there is enough time as Hearts have not become a poor team after one result. He said: "I am not even thinking about catching Hearts. I can't even tell you how many points Hearts are above us but I don't think they can be caught because they are a good team and they'll win a few games between now and the end of the season. I have full admiration for Jim and Billy (Brown, Hearts assistant manager) and they've got a really good squad of players. Hearts are a right good side and deservedly up there, I don't know if they'll split the Old Firm but they have been the best of the rest this season, I have no issues with that. I am just happy to win and take one game at a time. Last year we did it by not looking too far forward. I am more than happy with what we've got from the game and we'll take it from there. Where do they get the energy from? The SFA are in there just now doing a drug test and I think they should test all of the boys - the energy levels and the fitness levels are fantastic." Hearts manager Jefferies, meanwhile, was disappointed by the manner that they lost last night's opening goal. He said: "It was a game that looked like it had nil-nil written all over it. There was plenty effort and commitment from both teams. We are disappointed because we shot ourselves in the foot. The first goal was from a routine free-kick, the position of the players was great but you have to deal with it. You have to make sure everyone is picked up but unfortunately for us it's one of the smallest men in their team that punished us and he should not be getting a free header there. It was always going to be something like that, the second goal was immaterial because we were pushing forward at that stage."
