Hearts Players Pay In Doubt

UBIG still looking for money to make payments

Hearts look like testing the patience of the SPL again with the news that the salary payments due to be paid to players tomorrow will be delayed. Board members told the squad that UBIG, the Lithuanian bank owned by majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov, was still trying to secure the funds needed to meet the payments today. There is still a chance that money will be sourced by UBIG on Friday but it is highly unlikely that the money will be transferred to the players' accounts by the end of the day. Players officially complained to the SPL in December after three consecutive and significant delays in monthly payments. The SPL dismissed a charge against the club of "failing to behave with the utmost good faith" in January after some players received payments on the 17th, after the club produced evidence they had made the payments the day earlier.
