Hearts Favourites For Edinburgh Derby

The team spirit garnered during the period of uncertainty at Tynecastle is helping Hearts pick up the points.

Hearts manager Paulo Sergio is concentrating on his own side's performance ahead of Monday's game with Hibs at Easter Road. Hearts travel across the city with two wins and a draw from their past three games while the financial uncertainty which has seen their players' wages delayed for three straight months continues. Meanwhile, Hibs claimed their first point after three losses under manager Pat Fenlon in Wednesday's game with Inverness. The home side will be considered as underdogs as they last won an Edinburgh derby in May 2009. Despite Hearts being unbeaten in eight games against Hibs and winning the August fixture 2-0, Sergio is taking nothing for granted. Hearts Portuguese manager offered his views to Hearts TV: "I hope we can give a very good moment for our fans, but history is history. It's another game, a different game and we have to focus on ourselves to be competent to have a good performance. I believe after a good performance the result comes naturally." Hearts players have ignored the uncertainty over their wages in recent weeks to beat Dunfermline and Motherwell and draw at Pittodrie. Despite their wages being delayed for three successive months and December's pay, which was due on 16 December, remaining outstanding, Hearts lie 14 points above Hibs in fifth place in the table. Hibs are 11th after an eight-game run in the SPL without a win. Sergio added: "Hibs need points more than ever. They have a new manager, maybe with new ideas. We have to study them very well to be ready to go and fight for the points."
