Hearts Could Lose If They Win

Hearts face the daunting prospect of overturning a 1-0 lead at Anfield tonight. If they manage that, some players could earn themselves a move.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has lost Brazilian midfielder Lucas ahead of tonight's return game against Hearts after he was ruled out for up to three months with a thigh injury. Otherwise Rodgers reports having a fully-fit squad for the visit of the Tynecastle side to Anfield. Rodgers, who side lead 1-0 on aggregate, has promised to field a strong side meaning some of the players who missed the game at Gorgie - such as Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson and Luis Suarez - could be involved. Hearts manager John McGlynn concedes producing a "massive'' upset at Liverpool could lead to other clubs registering their interest in his best players. McGlynn knows his side are huge underdogs against the Premier League side but is not ruling out a shock, even if it has consequences before Friday's transfer deadline. When asked about that possible scenario, McGlynn said: "Possibly - that is a state of affairs, particularly in Scotland. Finances are tight. If we get young players coming through and they do particularly well, in the current climate, I would imagine Hearts are going to have to sell. We would hope they would stay for a few years and get experience, do a good job for the club, but Hearts have been a selling club since way back. It is a difficult situation that might crop up. We would have to deal with it. But we've been looking forward to this since the draw and even more so since last week. It's a big game, great for the players to be playing in front of this crowd and a great atmosphere, the big stage. It is an opportunity for them to show what they can do. It would be a massive achievement if we could get through. It would be remembered if we could do that. But to come down here a goal down and get through - we have got to win 1-0 to get extra time and then win 2-1. That is the size of the task we have got.''
