Grab The Chance When You Get It

With games coming quick and fast, a clubs full squad could be utilised.
Steve Lomas wants his St Johnstone fringe players to grab the chance to show what they can do if given a chance in the next three games. Saints have been on a four-game winless run in the league and meet Dundee United today before games against second-placed Inverness and bottom club Dundee. St Johnstone are in seventh place and want to progress into the top six ahead of the winter break and a two-week hiatus and may have to negotiate the festive fixtures without Chris Millar. Midfielder Millar was subbed during Saturday's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Aberdeen with a groin injury and replaced by Paddy Cregg, who could get a start against United. Lomas said: "Chris has tweaked his groin, so we'll have to wait to assess him and see how he is for the busy Christmas period. It gives somebody else an opportunity to step in and show their worth." With Dundee in the top-flight now, the Tayside derby may have dropped down in significance for United, but for St Johnstone a win over their near-neighbours would provide a welcome boost to moral. Lomas maintains his side can defy their recent run against a United side full of talent. Lomas said: "Any team can beat anybody on any given day. It'll be tough because they're a decent team and they've got decent players, (Johnny) Russell, Jon Daly, (John) Rankin."
