Scotland Under-21 striker David Goodwillie is well aware of the significance of tonight's European Championship play-off second-leg clash with Iceland at Easter Road.

Billy Stark's youngsters are 2-1 down from the first game in Reykjavik on Thursday night but hope to retrieve the deficit to make the finals for the first time since 1996.

"It's probably one of the biggest games of my career," said Goodwillie. "It would be a very proud moment if we managed to get through. It would mean everything to me. Everyone would love to play in the finals of a championship."

He added: "The senior team don't really get to them these days but hopefully it will pick up and people will see the younger teams progressing.

"We were told by the boss that we hadn't been to the finals since 1996 so it would be nice to get back on track.

"I don't think it's pressure, everything is a bonus for us right now.

"It's been great to even get to this stage.

"I wouldn't want to jinx things but I think we have a strong chance.

"Iceland are good going forward but I think their defence could be broken down if we put pressure on them."
