Around 60 people turned up at the public meeting organised by Cowdenbeath FC chairman Donald Findlay last Thursday night to discuss the future of the Blue Brazil. Ex-Rangers board member Donald Findlay has said his home town club from Central Fife must move away from Central Park if they are to survive and achieve their aim of being a permanent fixture in the second tier of Scottish football. With a regular home support of just 300, Cowden had nearly treble the current number 30 years ago, Mr Findlay admitted to the gathered Blue Brazilians that the football club had lost touch with the local community in recent years. He said: ''We should have a hard core of at least 500 at home given the catchment area but sadly our Central Park attendances are more in keeping with Div 3 than Div 2 currently.'' On admission charges for Cowden home games the chairman said the club had gone to £14 entry to Central Park to fund the promotion push back to Division 1. Findlay went on: ''Sadly we could have only have justified last season's admission of £12 had we still been in Division 1 and even then only derby games with Dunfermline and Raith would see us profit on gate returns.'' The long running saga regarding a new community stadium for Cowdenbeath was discussed but it was revealed that sites at the South End of the Fife town and at the Woodend area as you exit Cowdenbeath on the road to Dunfermline were now no longer an option. Findlay said: "It is difficult to see where we are going to site a new community stadium of around 3,000 capacity which has a FIFA approved artificial surface that can be used by public and Football Club alike. However, that stadium must be built in the near future if we are to achieve our ambitions of making the club a permanent fixture in Division 1 while bringing back a local support to the Blue Brazil. We are in on going talks with sponsorship partners and local businesses alike in our efforts to move the club out of Central Park.'' Cowdenbeath reached the final of the Fife Cup on Tuesday with a thumping 6-0 away win against old rivals East Fife. Despite both sides fielding a mixture of youth and experience this was a tremendous result for the Blue Brazil following on from their 11-0 First Round win at Burntisland Shipyard at the start of August. Raith or Dunfermline await Cowden in the final.
