Glasgow City To Be Crowned Champions On Sunday

Every team should be trying to win every game no matter how successful they are.

Glasgow City women's football team have plenty to celebrate. Not only do they contribute a significant number of players to the Scotland international team, have reached the last 16 of the Champions League but they have also won the Scottish Women's Premier League for the fifth year in a row. They will welcome Celtic ladies to their Petershill Park ground on Sunday when they will be handed the Champions trophy irrespective of the result. The game against their Glasgow rivals kicks off at 12pm with the presentation following the game.  No other team has ever dominated the women’s game in Scotland for so long and with a Champions League last 16 home and away game against Postdam to look forward to, head coach Eddie Wolecki Black does understand why many would think his players focus would be elsewhere.

He said: "We have had a phenomenal season so far, but as I stress to the players every day, it is not over. We want to maintain our excellent League record and of course we also have a Scottish Cup semi-final on Wednesday, all before we even think of taking on German giants Postdam in the Champions League. Games are coming fast and furious for us just now between having so many players involved in the Scotland games and also our League, Scottish Cup and Champions League commitments and without doubt, we have suffered due to injuries to key players. But that is why we have a strong squad. The players will be focused on Sunday, irrespective that the League is already won." City v Celtic kicks-off at Petershill Juniors on Sunday at 12pm and Sky Sports will be amongst the press corps expected to record the event as City lift the title.
