Glasgow City Meet WFC Osijek

11 August 2012 10:13
At 4pm UK time today, Glasgow City take on Croatian Champions WFC Osijek in the first of their three games in Group 8 of the UEFA Women's Champions League first round.

Only the winners of the Group are guaranteed progression to the knock-out stages of the round of the last 32 and First Team Coach Katharina Lindner is more than aware of the importance of the game, having taken part as a player in every previous City European campaign.

Speaking yesterday she said: "We have had a good trip and settled in well so far. Everyone seems really relaxed and confident, we got a couple of good training session under our belt today and we hope this is going to carry over into the game. We are aware that we are in arguably the toughest qualifying group and everyone knows that only three quality performances will give us a chance of progression. We have done quite a bit of background research on tomorrow opponents and there is no doubt that they are a decent team with some very good players. But we are well prepared and hope that our previous European experience of playing in high pressure matches and the hard work of the last few months will see us get the win we want tomorrow."
