Glasgow City Enjoy Their Celebrations

Winning the league, no matter at what level, must be a great feeling. Glasgow City Ladies enjoyed the winning feeling yesterday.

Glasgow City Ladies FC picked up the Scottish Women' Premier League title for the fifth successive year after the game against Celtic at Petershill Park yesterday. The title had been won the previous week but that did not mean that City relaxed in anyway during the game which they dominated in the main. A 3-1 win was justified but there was a spell in the first and a longer spell in the second half where Celtic camped themselves in the City half and put the champions under pressure. However, the party was not going to be spoiled and City held out for the win. City and Celtic will meet again on Wednesday as they play for a place in the Unite Scottish Cup.  After the game coach Eddie Wolecki Black said: "I want to congratulate all players and staff on another title. On the game itself, Celtic obviously set up a game plan to frustrate us with five at the back and a bank of four protecting the defence, which forced us to find solutions, which in the first half we struggled a little with. However, after the break, we utilised the ball far better and got into areas which allowed us to create opportunities. We now look forward to Wednesday’s semi-final against the same opponents." Then the fun began as the team came back out to pick up their individual medals and the league trophy. As ever the champagne was wasted as the team enjoyed their day in the sun. See some of the images below.
