Friends And Neighbours

It pays to get on well with your neighbours as Ayr United have found out.

Ayr United have invited Troon Juniors manager Jim Kirkwood to join their  Board of Directors just a few weeks after his company, Allanvale Land Developments, donated £7,500 to help bring in new players. The company are already neighbours of the Somerset Park club as they own the car park that sits outside the ground. Ayr United chairmanm Lachlan Cameron said: "We believe that Jim will be a great asset with his business expertise. He will assist the Club in our wish to provide stadium development and improved facilities for supporters." Kirkwood said: "It is with great pleasure that I accept the kind invitation to join the board of Ayr United. I have had a heavy involvement and association with the Club for the past few years with regard to the development of new facilities. It is a natural step to attempt to help the Board deliver its aims in line with any development proposals we may have. I am hoping to principally assist my fellow board members with business and commercial opportunities. I will be doing it with the main aim of improving the football offering we provide to our supporters, and as somebody involved on a daily basis in football locally I know how important this is."
