Forfar Hope To Make A Mint From Playing Everton

A pre-season game against an Everton XI is not a bad way to start the season. Forfar Athletic faced a sticky situation by having a bye in the first round of the ALBA Challenge Cup. A restful Saturday so early in the season was not what manager Dick Campbell had in mind so he just arranged a friendly against an Everton XI, who will be managed by former Celtic player Alan Stubbs, as part of the Angus clubs 125th Anniversary celebrations. The initial contact for the game came through the Station Park club's honorary patron Lord Lyell, an Everton shareholder and avid supporter who used his contacts at Goodison to set the wheels in motion. The ‘Toffeemen’ will be heading north for a stay at St Andrews and had agreed to a game with Clyde on Tuesday, 20 July  and have now added the Station Park game to their trip. Campbell said: “I am delighted to have Everton coming to Station Park. Forfar had a great end to the season winning promotion to the Second Division and now we have a great start to the season as well.” Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba.net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba.net)This is Scottish-Fitba.Net
