Firhill For Farewells

The prunning of squads and wage bills have started. The SFL season has not ended (for those in the play-offs) and already clubs are looking towards season 2010-11. Partick Thistle are trimming their squad dramatically with goalkeepers Bryn Halliwell and Craig Hinchcliffe, along with outfield players Martyn Corrigan, Simon Donnelly, Ian Maxwell and Scott Tully all being released. Paddy Boyle and Mark Corcoran have also been told that they are free to find other clubs despite having a year left on their contracts.  It is quite a blow to manager Ian McCall as he is not only losing players but his coaching staff are also being depleted as Hinchcliffe and Donnelly held coaching positions at the club with Maxwell standing in as assistant manager after David Irons short stay at the club ended. Ryan Conroy will also leave the Jags to return to Celtic at the end of his loan period whereas Thistle youngster Ryan MacBeth, has been invited down to Premiership side Bolton Wanderers for a trail. However, the door is not being slammed on the players being released. McCall said: "There are some players that I would still like to see at the Club next season both in a playing and non playing capacity. We will need to see how things work out during the summer. It is never a pleasant task having to release players but I would like to thank all those players for their efforts during their time at Partick Thistle."
