Final Preparations For EURO 2013
Anna Signeul takes her players to Finland to sharpen up ahead of next month's game against Israel The first leg of a double header requires the Scotland women’s A squad to fly off to face Finland tomorrow. The away tie will be played on Sunday with the return will be played on Wednesday at Tynecastle. National coach Anna Signeul takes her squad off on their travels after two wins over Switzerland and Belgium where they scored six and lost none. However, the Fins present a rather different prospect. Signeul said: "We last played Finland two years ago and we got a credible draw. They are a very strong and physical team as well as tactically and technically very good. Finland have built a very strong squad and these two games will be very difficult for us but also a good test to see how good we are." The games against the Fins will be the final ones before a tricky trip to Israel for the first of the UEFA Women's Euro 2013 qualifying group games. Signeul has lost the services of Glasgow City pair Jo Love and Rachel Corsie for the trip to Finland. She said: "We feel quite confident after the last two games. We won both quite comfortably and played well, but more importantly we stayed focussed on what we needed to do and I was very happy with that. Jo and Rachel are two very important players for the team and will be a big loss but this will give other players a chance to come into the squad and show me what they can do." The national coach has just returned from watching Israel in their opening qualifying defeat to France and is well aware of their qualities. She went on: “Israel are well organised and fought very well against a very strong France team. They played some good football and it was vital for our preparations to see how they play."
