Fergie Backs The SFA To Find The Answer

24 November 2010 06:49
Everybody has something to say about the proposed strike by referees Sir Alex Ferguson hopes the SFA can find a resolution to the referee crisis to ensure this weekend's SPL and SFL games go ahead as scheduled. Scottish officials have proposed a strike, leaving Scotland bereft of professional football this Saturday and Sunday. The SFA are in talks with the officials to try to avert strike action, but are also looking throughout Europe in an attempt to find referees to fill the gaps should talks with Scottish officials fail to find an answer to the problems. Ferguson said: "It is not a nice situation. There is work to be done to get the referees the confidence. Referees are always going to be criticised. That has always been the way. I am sure the SFA will find a way round it, hopefully by the weekend." On the prospect of officials being drafted in from abroad, the former Aberdeen boss went on: "I would never have envisaged it, but if you don't have referees for the weekend, you have to find someone."
