Fenlon Starts The Clear Out

There will be some dark clouds over Easter Road for a while as the new manager works his way through the club to see who goes and who stays.

Pat Fenlon has started his time at Hibs by making first-team coaches Gareth Evans and Alistair Stevenson redundant with immediate effect.  He wants to build his own coaching team as he prepares to assume full control from caretaker-managers Billy Brown. Fenlon had said, on Friday, he would be speaking to Billy Brown on Sunday about how he sees the way forward for the club. With Hibs in ninth place in the SPL, there will probably be more hard decisions to be made. A club statement read: "The board would like to record their sincere thanks for the commitment, dedication and professionalism that both Gareth and Alistair have demonstrated in their time at Hibernian, and wish them all the very best in their future careers." Former striker Evans took up a coaching role under Mixu Paatelainen's rein at Easter Road, while Stevenson was credited with steering a clutch of youngsters through the club's academy, including Scott Brown, Steven Fletcher and Derek Riordan.
