Referee need to gain experience and officiating in another country will help them gain just that. Scottish referee John Beaton will be in charge for this Saturday’s IFA Premiership game between Glenavon and Donegal Celtic at Mourneview Park in Lurgan. Beaton is being given the opportunity as part of the referee development exchange programme between the SFA and their Northern Irish counterparts. The SFA’s Head of Disciplinary Affairs Drew Herbertson said: "The exchange programme as been given for six seasons now and is proving to be of benefit to referees of both associations. I am sure John will gain experience in this game that will benefit him throughout the rest of his career."
