Everybody Is Under Pressure

Both Motherwell and Celtic managers will be feeling the prssure to come home on Saturday with the top prize. Ex-Celtic manager Gordon Strachan does not buy in to the notion that all the pressure is on Celtic in Saturday's Scottish Cup final against Motherwell at Hampden. He guided Southampton to an FA Cup final against Arsenal in 2003 and admits that given the disparity in class between the two sides, he was, in some ways, relieved to escape with only a 1-0 defeat. While acknowledging that Neil Lennon's side are under pressure to finish the season with a trophy, he knows how Fir Park manager Stuart McCall will be feeling as he makes his way to the national stadium.   Strachan said: "Everyone says all the pressure is on Celtic. But I have been in an underdog situation against a really good side in Arsenal and my thoughts were, 'I hope we don't embarrass ourselves here by getting beat three, four or five'. I had to make sure my team didn't do that. Everyone tells you to go and enjoy a cup final but if you are 3-0 down with 45 minutes to go, it is not fun, I can assure you. It can only be fun if you are competing. There is pressure on Celtic, of course there is. But it is always there. With Motherwell, you can't just go along with a brand new suit thinking this is wonderful day. I've seen players after the game in their brand new suits, not looking great. So trust me, there is a pressure on Motherwell as well."
