Euan Norris Wants To Be Mr Invisible

09 April 2011 20:41
Nobody wants to talk about a referee after a game - including the referee! Euan Norris will be in charge of his first ever National cup final when he steps over the white line for the, re-arranged from November last year, ALBA Challenge Cup final between Ross County and Queen of the South at McDiarmid Park tomorrow. He hopes that the pre-game publicity is the last time he gets mentioned regarding the final.  Norris said: “I am delighted to be chosen for this final and I view it as a great honour. I have handled over 20 ties in Europe before but the stature of this game makes it every bit as important as any game I have been in charge of. My aim is probably the same for all referees’ that have handled this final before and that is for it to pass by and nobody notice I was there." Norris is a regular on the SPL list and his career so far has taken him to games involving the likes of Rubin Kazan and Shakhtar Donetsk, however the ALBA final is high on his list of achievements. He said: "This is my fifth season as a Category 1 referee and I would like to think that this game marks my development so far. I have been a referee for 11 years and domestically this is a real highlight."
