Esson Happy To Stay

Promotion is a great way to get players to sign a new contract if you want to keep them. Ryan Esson has signed a new two-year contract following Inverness' return to the SPL. Esson last played in the top flight in the 2005/06 season with Aberdeen, after which he moved to Shrewsbury and then Hereford. His return to the Scottish game with Caley Thistle has been a success, and in his second season after joining the Highland club he played a major role in their promotion. Former Scotland Under-21 international Esson was keen to sort out his future, saying: "I'm pleased everything is settled. It was always my first choice to stay at the club."Inverness manager Terry Butcher said: "It is encouraging that Ryan has committed himself to us. He was outstandingly consistent last season and his experience will serve us well in the top flight. We are still looking to add another keeper to the squad, replacing Kyle Allison, who was released."
