Players on trial are nearing decision time and Steven Tweed is thining his squad. Montrose manager Steven Tweed has started weeding out some of the players who have been joining in training as triallists ahead of the new season. Five of the new faces managed to get a game as part of the Links Park squad in their 3-0 defeat by Livingston on Tuesday. The game showed Tweed enough to tell two players that they would not be pursuing their interest any further after the game. The other three, including a young striker from Spain, are expected to play some part of the game against Brechin in their Forfarshire Cup tie this Saturday. Tweed said: “I saw enough against Livingston to be pleased with our progress so far. They are a good side and we created chances against them so we have a good platform to build on."
