Enckelman Signs On For Two Years

Derek McInnes has Finnished his signings St Johnstone have agreed a deal with Finland internationalist Peter Enckelman who will move from from Cardiff City. He impressed enough in Saturday's friendly game against Real Valladolid at McDiarmid Park to secure a two-year contract with the Perth side. The Finnish player said:  "It’s been a whirlwind few days but it has gone well. I was surprised to play on Saturday after just one training session but I really enjoyed the game. Once I had met the manager and the rest of the lads it was not a hard decision to make."The goalkeeper played for TPS Turku in his homeland, Aston Villa and Blackburn prior to moving to Cardiff in 2008 and will now compete with Graeme Smith for the gloves. Enckelman has been given the number one jersey but he fully expects to have a fight o his hands with Graeme Smith for the starting spot. Enckelman said: "It’ll be a friendly fight for the position and I am sure we will support each other. I’m ready to play against Hearts if called to do so and am looking forward to the challenge."
