Peter Houston knows his side need to be on top form if they are to progress in the cup on Sunday

Sunday sees Dundee United taking on Celtic in theirScottish Cup quarter-final. The Tannadice manager, Peter Houston considers his side as underdogs for the game despite the kind of form they displayed last night at home to Inverness. United secured fourth place in the SPL table thanks to their 3-0, but Houston expects a completely different test when Neil Lennon's cup holders visit Dundee. He said: "It was a good boost getting a win before Sunday but we will need to play a lot better against Celtic to knock them out. They are a quality side. Our coach Paul Hegarty watched Celtic against Aberdeen on Saturday (1-1 draw at Pittodrie) and, even though they never played to their usual standard, it will be a big test for us. Celtic are a really good team this season. They will be fired up for the cup tie and they will be strong regardless of who plays. They have a lot of depth in their squad and I'm not sure who will play but we will have the boys ready. We need to go into the match and be on our game from the start. We will attack because that's the only way you win cup ties." John Rankin's long-range effort put Houston's side in control at half-time on Monday and Scott Robertson and Johnny Russell added goals in the second half. The result saw United leapfrog Hearts and St Johnstone as they boosted their prospects of a European place, and dent Inverness' hopes of a top-six finish. Caley are already out of the Scottish Cup and manager Terry Butcher has threatened to ring the changes in the coming weeks. He said: "We play Kilmarnock on Saturday and then have a two-week break. I might change the whole team for that game. I could do that, I could shout and scream at them, but I don't know if that will work. It must at some point." There was more bad news for Butcher when key man Jonny Hayes was ruled out for several weeks with a hamstring injury. He said: "We don't know long Jonny will be out for, but it could be a while."
