Duffy Needs The Breaks

Darryl Duffy is looking forward to recovering from a broken foot to stake a claim for a deal at Easter Road. Hibs on-loan striker Darryl Duffy has set his sights on earning a permanent switch after a delayed start to his Easter Road career. Duffy is on a season-long loan from Bristol Rovers and is out of contract in the summer and is desperate to impress whilst in Edinburgh. However, he still awaits his debut for the club after breaking his foot last month, but he is eager to impress once he has made a full recovery. He said: "It would be great to earn a permanent deal here because my contract is up at Bristol Rovers at the end of the season and I wouldn't sign a new one if I was offered one by them. That is the ideal situation for me, but first of all I need to prove my worth and start scoring some goals for the club." With just one win from their opening seven games, a run which ultimately led to the parting of manager John Hughes last week, it is fair to say that Hibs have not had the start to the season they wished for, but Duffy is hoping to steer the club to a first piece of silverware since 2007. He went on: "Qualifying for Europe again and trying to put as much pressure on the Old Firm has to be the aim this season for this club. If we can go on and win one of the cup competitions as well that would be something special because it has been a while since this club lifted some silverware."
