Queens give young player more chances to shine

Kevin Holt has been given more time at Queen of the South which may allow him to continue the run of good fortune in 2011.  The young midfielder was awarded the Jade Moore Memorial Trophy for being the Dumfries club’s under-19 Player of the Year in May and he made his first team debut as a substitute in September’s 4-1 defeat of Morton. Holt made his starting debut against Partick Thistle last month with a sending off against Dundee earlier in December blotting his copybook in the senior game.  Palmerston manager Gus MacPherson said: "Kevin has done extremely well since coming into the first team and has impressed me enough to keep his place. I like big, athletic players and at six feet tall he certainly falls into that category. He is still learning but he is a good listener and if he keeps on working hard he has a good future in the game."
