Queen's Park extended the hand of friendship to young German players from SG Wattenschied 09 Queen’s Park have linked up with SG Wattenschied 09 in a mutual development programme which provides European experience for both sides. The German side brought their youth team to Hampden for a week long training stint at Lesser Hampden. Queen’s Park fans ferried the Wattenschied youngsters about Glasgow during their stay and took them to last Saturday’s game with Livingston at the National Stadium as their guests. The Spiders were based in  Bochum for a pre-season training camp in 2007 and 2008 and Wattenschied fans organised bounce games and provided transport for Gardner Speirs’ team as well as ensure that the two first teams met in a friendly. The friendships that have been created have lasted but there was no mercy extended as fare as football was concerned as Kilmarnock’s youngsters beat the Germans 5-2 and the Spiders’ youngsters ended up 3-0 winners.
