Dons Priced Out Of The Market?

It is hard to complet on the wages front with English clubs already without an improved contract in the wings Aberdeen manager Craig Brown wants to sign Norwich's Steven Smith but worries that the resources he has available will not be enough to tempt him back to the club. The defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Pittodrie after slipping down the pecking order at Carrow Road. Brown is keen to bring him back on a permanent basis, but Norwich will be playing in the Premier League next season and Smith could be in line for an improved contract. It is unlikely that the Dons could match anything the promoted side could offer. Brown, who confirmed a trial for former West Ham striker Daniel Uchechi, had hoped Smith would be back at Pittodrie after his successful loan spell. The Dons manager said: "I think it'll be quite difficult to get anyone whose, the rumours is that - wages double. So quite clearly it will be harder to move him now than it was a year ago. I think the money might make it quite difficult for us." Brown confirmed the club are set to take former West Ham striker Daniel Uchechi on trial. Brown went on: "We had a request from an agent about Danny and he told me what a wonderful player he was. We will have a look at him and he seems to be a reasonably good player."
