St Johnstone have started planning for the future already. Lots of contract decisions are made this month and St Johnstone have been quick off the mark by handing contracts to strikers Peter MacDonald and Andy Jackson but also letting three players leave McDiarmid Park. Martin Hardie has been released while Scott Dobie and Steven Milne have been encouraged to look for new challenges. Jackson and MacDonald signed six-month contracts in the summer and both have proved to manager Derek McInnes that they can contribute despite their injury problems of recent years. McInnes said "I believe there are goals in both of them yet and have asked them to prove that to me. Both players have worked hard and it is just a pity that the recent weather has limited their involvement. Peaso (MacDonald) has proved over the years he can score goals and Jacko too has the necessary talents, although I've told him he needs to be working the opposition goalkeepers more." Hardie was also given a short-term deal in the summer after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury and has been on loan at Partick Thistle. But an unconnected injury has curtailed his involvement in recent weeks and he is now looking for a new club. McInnes said: "Martin has been a first-class servant to this club and once he gets over this latest injury in a couple of weeks he will be a tremendous asset for some club". Milne has been at McDiarmid Park for five years but former West Brom and Carlisle striker Dobie only arrived in the summer, with injury meaning he was unable to make an impact at the club.
