Kris Commons is set to return to the Scotland squad in a bid to prove his fitness for the friendly with Denmark - but Celtic have called for their midfielder to withdraw.
The Hampden Park clash is vital preparation for next month's Euro 2012 qualifiers with the Czech Republic and Lithuania, and Commons is desperate to be a part of the fixture despite suffering a blow to a foot in Celtic's 1-0 win at Aberdeen on Sunday.
The 27-year-old joined up with Craig Levein's Scotland squad on Monday wearing a protective boot before returning to Celtic's Lennoxtown training base for treatment.
He was poised to return to Scotland's team hotel on Tuesday for further reassessment, but Celtic first-team coach Alan Thompson called for Commons to think again about taking part in the game and to prioritise Saturday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Dundee United.
Thompson said: "I think the important word is 'friendly'. Had it been a qualifier for Scotland then it puts a different slant on it.
"But with it being a friendly, we would much prefer him to be rested and try to get him right for the weekend, which will be touch and go, I would think."
Scotland assistant boss Peter Houston had earlier praised Commons for making every effort to take part in a friendly contest, when in the past many nations were afflicted by call-offs for such fixtures.
Houston said: "He took a stud on the instep of his foot and turned up.
"We thought, when he turned up with that (the protective boot) on, he'd be ruled out, but he told us he wants to give it until tomorrow, every chance.
"Too many times in the past players have called off easily - these players don't call off easily. That tells a lot for a friendly match. They've bought into the way Craig wants to build a unity in the squad."
