Clyde Re-building Project

Clyde plan to see if there is a more successful way of running a football club. Clyde have a new Head Coach in the shape of Stuart Millar who moved to the Cumbernauld club after finishing with Ross County. He and Director of Football Neil Watt have immediately started on re-shaping the running of the football side of the Cumbernauld side. Watt said: "Our new structure started on Monday with Stuart starting his work as Head Coach at the club, Gordon Wylde as First team coach with Rab Sneddon as Chief Scout. We are not trying to be clever with titles and roles at Clyde, we are trying a structure that we believe will suit the club going forward. Stuart’s role goes above and beyond the level of a traditional Manager’s role and it is the same with Gordon, as he is a qualified Youth Coach as well, and therefore not restricted to just assistant manager duties. When you include me, we now have three guys at the helm that have managed in the SFL and we can understand and build on each others talents.Stuart will be the decision maker at the end of the day for matters on the pitch." The recognised way of running a club has been unpicked by Watt and his aides to bring about a new approach that the club view as essential to bring about continuity. Watt explained: "The structure looks great on paper and it looks like it will be the right way to run things for the next five to ten years in order that we have stability at Clyde. The normal Football Business Model is a strange one in that the football manager gets a handshake at the beginning, told his budget and then has to get on with things with very little support. What I have seen in the business world allows me to believe that there is very few middle mangers in any other business that are made to feel they have to walk one hundred miles to the Boardroom for support. At Clyde it is only one flight of stairs and I know Stuart will be making that journey frequently to bounce ideas around."
